​​Kyri A. is the realization of a 25 year long effort and dream to produce a black purebred Irish Draught filly. She not only sets a new standard for Cerulean quality and presence in our mares, but is also homozygous black, the DNA Holy Grail for preserving color in the predominantly grey Irish Draught breed.

 

Kyri's dam is Padi's Classic Design (Lia). Lia is sired by the legendary Silver Merit, Class 1 stallion, Mountain Pearl, whose total outcross bloodlines are considered pure gold in the Irish Draught world.  Kyri's grand dam is the exquisite traditional RID mare, Loguestown Classic by Annaghdown Star.

Kyri's sire, the Legendary Bridon Belfrey, is the cornerstone of our Cerulean breeding program. Belfrey is a notable sire of sires and many Class 1 mares. ​At 6 months old, Belfrey took the title as Champion North American Foal at the IDHSNA breed show. Belfrey's dam, Flagmount Belle, RID, won numerous IDHS(NA) championships and earned the prestigious title of Irish Draught Champion of North America. Belfrey’s maternal grandsire, Flagmount King, RID, was one of only 2 Grade “A” Grand Prix Show Jumping RID stallions in the world at that time. 

 

Kyri's sire descends from distinguished jumping lines of Laughton, Tara and King of Diamonds as well as the rare lines of Atlantic Boy and Rusheen Hero. Kyri's sire's granddam is the all-time greatest producing dam of Approved RID stallion sons in Irish Draught history, Gowran Betty, RID.  Gowran Betty, RID paired with one of the most notable jumping sires, King of Diamonds, made headlines with 7 Approved Registered Irish Draught stallions. King of Diamonds stamped his progeny and grand progeny with traditional Irish Draught type and undeniably superior jumping talent. Royally bred top and bottom, Kyri is certain to make her mark on the Irish Draught breed.​​
